Ergonomics is about design of the workplace so that work adjusts to your body, rather than your body adjusting to the work. An independent review of the work performed by an individual can assist with reducing ergonomic risk factors and overuse injuries.  Ergonomic consulting is of use for offices, for operators of heavy equipment, at computer workstations and work locations in stores,  and for production lines in businesses and  factories.  Ergonomics requires participation of the workers and management.  Good design can help reduce risk, empower workers to work more safely, and increase productivity.  Bad work design leads to injury, increased risk of over-use injuries, and long term claims.

Cal Orok is an experienced, professional kinesiologist who began his career as a Fitness Specialist, in Gravenhurst.  He is an expert in human performance testing and has two Science degrees in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo. His Bachelor's Thesis was related to Running and his Master's Thesis was related to Cycling.  He has experience with personal training, group fitness leadership, community events and fundraising walks and runs, and seniors' fitness.  He designed a seniors' gym for active and frail seniors in Scarborough and ran an exercise program for three years.  He ran a small commercial gym and bicycle service in Gravenhurst, Muskoka, for 9 years.   It was the first full-time gym and full time bicycle service in Gravenhurst.  It was "built for the middles of Muskoka" and ran from 1988 to 1997.

In 2001, Cal Orok moved his career  into the field of Disability Management and Occupational Health and Safety, beginning at Sudbury Physio.   He is certified to conduct Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE's), and Physical Demands Analyses (PDA's). He has performed FCE's using Isernhagen, Workwell, Hanoun BTE, and Arcon Veranova systems.  He has worked independently and with physiotherapists and chiropractors.  He was developed two extensive templates for PDA's for employers.  In 2011, he completed his Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety from Ryerson University, which was a distance course he began in 2006.  He has also been certified as an Exercise Physiologist (until 2011), and has previoulsy been certified as an Associate Ergonomics Professional (AEP), with BCPE in Bellingham, Washington.

Mr. Orok has performed ergonomic assessments, FCE's and PDA's since 2001, in Sudbury region, Vaughan, Thornhill, London, Hamilton and Ottawa.   He is familiar with Disability and Claims Management with Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 Employers. Mr. Orok spent one year on contract with CN Rail Risk Management, with return to work and claims managment. He has sector specific certification for Construction, and has been involved with Occupational Health and Safety Program and Policy Development, including work for the Sudbury Regional Hospital on Musculoskeletal Disorders Prevention and Minimal Lift.   He also has experience with training for Workplace Violence Prevention.

Cal Orok is currently a part-time clinical specialist with Hanoun Medical, a division of  Briotix Health.  He is also an independent kineisologist and ergonomic specialist.  As a consultant kinesiolgist with a variety of assessment tools, he is regularly involved with worksite assessments in a variety of worksites.  In Sudbury, he has been to almost every underground mine site, and has traveled as deep as 7000 feet underground.  Mr. Orok is able to assist employers or employees with Return to Work, Worksite Assessments, and Physical Demands Analyses, to facilitate early and safe return to work.

As a Kinesiologist, Cal Orok relies on measurement for accurate worksite assessments.  He makes use of force gauges, scales, and digital photography to make accurate Physical Demands Analyses documents and reliable, readable reports.    If your company is looking for better PDA's or more accurate worksite assessments, please give us a call at your convenience.

Ask about our templates (short and long) or PDA's and our reasonable rates.  We strive to be "not the biggest, just the best."
